Words from Coach Bender

Football is one of the best places left in society to teach the basic life lessons that makes our country and community great.  Very few places are left that teach so much accountability and character such as: hard work, teamwork, commitment, and drive.

With that being said the GPYFA does an amazing job teaching the sport at the most important level, the youth.  The GPYFA instills the ideal character and athletic skills necessary for development that feeds into the Glacier Peak Football family.

The GPYFA teaches the basic building blocks including player safety and fundamentals to the youth of the South Snohomish area continuing the tradition of Grizzly Football.

Nick Bender
Head Football Coach
Glacier Peak HS

GPYFA Coaching Philosophy

GPYFA prides ourselves on our relationship with Glacier Peak High School as a feeder program. One of our coaching goals as a Board, was to make sure we did our due diligence and provided the best coaches for our young athletes as we prepare them to enter the high school football program. Part of this goal was to try and eliminate the "buddy-ball" or "daddy-ball" we hear so much about from parents.

Understanding the importance of quality coaching for our youth, we decided to re-implement an interviewing process for all our volunteer coaches. Each coach was interviewed by our Vice President (member of the Varsity High School coaching staff) as well as other members of the board and concerned parents.

Then to take it a step further, we teamed up with Glacier Peak High School head football coach Nick Bender and he interviewed potential head coaches for each division. We understand you may, and will, see some head coaching changes, but we want to emphasize our desire to make sure we have the best coaches who will coach the high school program, created an engaging culture for our young athletes and have the best interest to YOUR son or daughter and this program.

However, this endeavor has taken a little more time than anticipated and so we want to extend our early registration discount into April as we make the final decisions on the coaches. I hope you feel the same way as we do towards all your youth as they continue to grow a passion for football.

Thank you to all the coaches who are excited to be a part of this phenomenal program.
